What is this site/app about?

This site is Safaricom’s Apps Store – provided exclusively for Safaricom subscribers. The service allows you to browse and download apps for your phone. We support most popular phone OS-es and host several thousand apps. Go download some and enjoy


What are the kinds of applications available in this store?

Applications related to Productivity (i.e. business/finance), Utilities (i.e. travel/weather), Communication (i.e. messenger/chat/social), Life styles (i.e. devotional, health, fitness), Entertainment and Games are available in the Apps Store.


How do I download an application?

On WAP & ODC: Browse through the store and find out the app that interests you. Once you decide on an app to download, click on ‘Get’ or ‘Install’ or ‘Download’ button in the screen. Depending on your phone model, the download process will be different. But if you just follow the on-screen instructions that come up, the app will get downloaded to your phone. If the application happens to be a ‘paid app’ (that is, it is not free to download), appropriate deductions will be made from your mobile balance/account before download.

You will receive an SMS on your phone with a link. Click on that link on your phone. On the screen that appears, click on ‘Get’ again. If the application happens to be a ‘paid app’ (that is, it is not free to download), appropriate deductions will be made from your mobile balance/account before download.


After downloading, where can I see the application on my phone?

The application will be in the folder where all your ‘apps’ reside. In most phones, if you go to ‘Menu’, you will find the app directly in that list. In some phones, under ‘Menu’, you will have an item called ‘Applications’. You will find the app in that list. If you are still not able to find it, look for folders/menus like ‘Apps & Games’, ‘Games & More’ or ‘Downloaded Files’ in your phone. You will definitely find your app there.


How much do I pay to download an application? Do I incur data charges?

Several apps in the store are free so you do not pay any charges for downloading them. Some apps are ‘paid’, that is your account balance will be deducted if you download those apps. The price of apps varies so you should check the price displayed next to the app title before downloading. For both free & paid apps, data charges apply (unless there is a promotional season going on – Check with Safaricom customer cares for promotions).


Can I download an application for the second time?

Yes you can download the app for second time by going into the My account section of the portal and reinitiate the app download. In case of purchased apps there will be limitations in the number of times that you can download an app.


Why am I redirected to when I download some applications?

Apart from the app collection that host, we want you to bring you the best of the apps in other stores as well. We work with local application developers and if they have an interesting app in other stores, we showcase them to you in our store. For downloading of the apps though, you need to visit the corresponding store. So we redirect you there. As you can understand, we cannot guarantee the terms of service in the other stores so apply your judgment before you download.


I have a problem in using the store? Who should I take help from?

Safaricom customer care team will always be of help to you. Call us at the standard customer care numbers or visit the nearest retail outlet.


I am not able to find an application by browsing? How can I search?

You can search the Application by typing the App name or part of app name in search area that is provided in the site/app. Look for a ‘Search’ bar with a button / icon next to it.
